Professor of Business Analytics and Finance

The American University of Bahrain (AUBH) College of Business and Management invites applicants for a full-time position in Business Analytics and Finance starting Fall term 2024. Applicants should hold at least a Doctorate degree in Business Analytics, Data Science, Data Analytics/ Data Mining, or related fields from preferably reputable American university. The position will require teaching courses that cover and incorporate all aspects of business analytics, Competitive candidates will show a strong commitment to undergraduate and graduate teaching excellence in addition to having relevant industry experience.

Duties and Responsibilities include:

• Teach up to five courses per semester depending on the rank.
• Prepare course syllabus, plan lessons and assignments.
• Assess students’ progress by grading assignments, papers, exams, and other work.
• Advise students about which classes to take and how to achieve their goals.
• Work with colleagues to develop or modify the curriculum for a degree or certificate program involving a series of courses.
• Stay informed about changes and innovations in their field.
• Invigilating examinations.
• Attending faculty meetings.
• General administration work in relation to teaching and assessments’ quality assurance.
• Writing research proposals, papers, and other publications.
• Supervising projects/thesis of students.
• Any other QA and academic related tasks.

Requirements

Qualifications and Experience required:

• Ph.D. in Business Analytics, Data Science, or terminal degree in related fields.
• Significant practical industry experience is a plus for this position.
• Experience teaching Business Analytics courses at the university level.
• Preference will be given to candidates with degrees from the United States and to those with teaching experience at a higher education level in the United States.
• Demonstrated and ongoing record of impactful research in Business Analytics, broadly defined, who have strong industry engagement, and proven ability to link theory and practice in their area(s) of expertise.
• Experience in outreach in the professional data science industry, and/or prior professional experience in data science is desirable.

Skills and Competencies required:

• Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills necessary to impart Business Analytics concepts and theories to students.
• Strong communication and relationship building skills with peers, leadership, and external constituents, including the business community.
• Knowledge and experience of using learning management systems (LMS).
• Demonstrate leadership aligned with AUBH core values of integrity, engagement, excellence, and desire to make a difference.
