Job Description

The American University of Bahrain (AUBH) invites applications for a part time lecturer position in the area of English Language beginning Spring Semester 2023. Candidates are expected to hold a master’s degree in Teaching English as a Second/Foreign Language, Foreign Language Education, Applied Linguistics, or Composition amp; Rhetoric obtained from a reputable university. Preference will be given to candidates who have demonstrated excellent skills in teaching at the undergraduate level in both face-to-face and online modes. Successful candidates will be expected to teach English composition and research writing courses. As instruction is in the English Language, the successful candidate must have excellent English-language communication skills.

Duties and Responsibilities include:

  • Teaching selected courses
  • Preparing promptly course related documentation as required (accreditation, audit, )
  • Contributing to the development of the curriculum in selected areas
  • Attending division meetings
  • Promoting collegiality amongst faculty

Requirements

Qualifications and Experience required:

  • Master’s in TESOL, Foreign Language Education, Applied Linguistics, or Composition amp; Rhetoric
  • Minimum 2 years of teaching experience in higher education institutions in the area of English Language or related field, including face-to-face and online settings
  • Experience in software environment for statistical computing and graphics
  • Experience working in international, multicultural settings
  • Experience in dealing with students of multiple cultural backgrounds

Skills and Competencies required:

  • Ability to communicate new ideas, information and needs through appropriate communication methods and behaviors with faculty, staff, and students
  • Careful attention to detail and accuracy, strong organizational skills, proactively establish priorities and meet deadlines, and solve problems independently
  • Ability to use such tools as Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and internet search tools
  • Knowledge of Learning Management Systems, Canvas a distinct advantage
  • Excellent oral and written English skills
