Bahrain International Airport (BIA), the Airport Modernisation Programme (AMP) is a two-phased venture that will elevate infrastructure, facilities, and services of Bahrain’s gateway, transforming BIA into a world-class hub in line with the Kingdom’s national vision and reputation as a leading financial, cultural, and aviation center in the Gulf region. Under the supervision of the Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications (MTT) and Bahrain Airport Company (BAC), which oversees the project from start to finish, the USD 1.1 billion AMP will increase BIA’s capacity to 14 million passengers a year, satisfying a significantly larger number of travelers and putting the Kingdom’s aviation sector on the world map.
The AMP, launched in 2016, is part of large-scale infrastructure development projects worth more than $32 billion and set to accelerate Bahrain’s diversification efforts and overall economic growth.
The new terminal will be more than quadrupled in size, offering expanded passenger and cargo capacities, world-class facilities, and commercial offerings, placing BIA on par with its global counterparts and catering to the forecasted growth in passenger traffic expected in the region.
